City trips
The Dali Theatre Museum in Figueres
Visit the town of Figueres and its famous Dali museum.
(drive 30 minutes by car). Highly recommended!
Girona
The medieval Girona has a beautiful architecture. The rivers Ter en Rio Onyar run through the city. It is a beautiful city to visit with medieval walls, narrow winding streets and wonderful restaurants. Girona is reached by car in 1 hour.
Castell de la Trinitat
You can visit Castell de la Trinitat and its museum. You can easily walk here (5 minute walk) when you stay at the Canyelles Lighthouse apartment.
Barcelona
Barcelona is a 2 hour drive by car. There are also bus tours available from Roses. Perfect for a day in Barcelona.
Food and wine
When you visit Bodega Joan Albert in Roses you'll get a cup so you can taste the wine.
You can find them at Carrer Arquitecte Gaudi 12.
Prepare your own Paella. It's not so difficult. Must do on a holiday in Roses.
Drink Sangria. There are many ready made sangria's for sale. Add fruit & ice cubes. Enjoy!
There is so much to love about the Spanish food. And so many restaurants to choose from. The populair restaurants require a reservation in the summer.
Beaches
Platja de l'Almadrava
To me this is the most beautiful beach. The water is very calm and lovely to swim in. You can drive there in about 10 minutes. In high season you have to park somewhat further away and walk or you take the bus that stops almost at our doorstep.
Platja de Canyelles
Beautiful beach with a lot of restaurants. If you take the coastal path from the apartment you walk here in 20 minutes. And what a walk: with breath taking views over the Mediterrean.
This beach has some nice restaurants to get a drink or grab a bite.
Platja dels Palangres
This beach can be reached by a 7 minutes walk and is very close to the apartment. It's a small beach opposite of the closest supermarket. You can go for a swim and after that get some groceries. There is a restaurant at the supermarket: you also can grab a drink or get something to eat here.
Roses
At the city of Roses (20 minute walk) you find a boulevard and a very long beach. The boulevard is the place to stroll, get an ice cream or sit at a terrace.
Fun activities at the beach
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is a fun and easy activity at the beach. You'll be amazed how much you can see under water. Snorkel around the areas with seagrasses and enjoy the underwater life.
Hire a water cycle
You can rent these at the beach in Roses along the boulevard.
Picknick @the beach
Prepare some food at home and take it to the beach. Add some lights and a blanket. Just watch the sunset...
Have a drink
Don't forget to stay hydrated;-).
Go active!
Boattrips
Go on a boat trip. The Costa Brava is beautiful from the Mediterranean. We've had a great time with Els Blaus de Roses.
Camins de Ronda: The coastal path
You can enter the coastal path by crossing the road from the apartment. If you go to the left you walk to Canyelles beach which you'll reach in about 20 minutes. From there you can walk to Almadrava beach. Here's a nice description by our "neighbor" up the road Hotel Bellavista.

In the neighboring town of Empuriabrava there is a possibility to skydive @skydiveempuriabravaAre you the daredevil to do it?
Kajak
Just around the corner from Roses in Llanca you can go kayaking with your family or friends with SKKayak First you'll get some instructions, then you go into the water en you wil kayak on the Mediterranean Sea.
It's an amazing beautiful trip and definitely one you should try.
